Position Overview
The Weston Public Schools is seeking an English Teacher for Weston High School. This is a part-time position (0.50 FTE) reporting to the Building Principal and the English Department Head. About The Weston Public Schools
The Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2,000 students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity), a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls about 160 students (K-12).

* Establish routines and procedures for smooth classroom operation and efficient use of time
* Manage student behavior to promote high engagement with content
* Communicate effectively with students using precise and expressive language, including setting expectations, giving directions, and explaining content
* Use questions, prompts, and discussion techniques to challenge students cognitively, promote high-level thinking, and encourage metacognition
* Design learning tasks that require complex thinking, include scaffolding, and actively engage all students
* Utilize formative and summative assessments to inform instruction, monitor progress, provide feedback, and support student self-monitoring
Desired Qualifications
* Hold a valid Massachusetts license as an English Teacher (5-12) by the time of appointment
* Have three or more years of teaching experience, preferably in a diverse public school setting
* Possess excellent team-building and interpersonal skills
* Demonstrate effective communication skills, including clear writing and facilitation/public speaking
Compensation and Benefits
This role is represented by the Weston Education Association and offers the same salary schedule as other teachers and professional staff. Weston Public Schools provides a comprehensive benefits package, including subsidized health insurance and participation in the Massachusetts Teachers' Retirement System.
