Overview
Senior Advisor - Future Agriculture - Environmental Land Management (ELM) - 31666
England is reforming agricultural policy and spending with the Environmental Land Management (ELM) schemes. ELM schemes incentivise farmers and land managers to deliver water, soil and biodiversity outcomes alongside food production. This role supports the design and delivery of ELM incentives within the wider context of shaping the organisation's response to government reviews and EA2030 targets for water, environment and climate.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to the delivery of key CSHT (Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier) products for the Farming and Countryside Programme.
* Provide advice in meetings, manage commissions, oversee Programme milestones, and identify future risks and resource requirements.
* Work across diverse teams and with senior leaders to articulate a scheme that delivers outcomes.
* Influence the design and delivery of incentives within the organisation and wider regulatory context.
* Support continuous improvement of the scheme through its design and delivery.
Experience and Qualifications
* Experience of Agriculture and working with Defra and other statutory bodies is essential.
* Politically aware with excellent communication and networking skills.
* Understanding of environmental sensitivities associated with significant agricultural sector reform.
* Experience interpreting/evaluating evidence to propose effective risk-based solutions for challenging problems.
* Ability to prioritise and deliver complex work; a self-starter who develops and advances ideas.

Other Information
* EA Office base location is flexible; national role with hybrid working in England. Some travel/overnights may be required.
