We're a vibrant, fast-paced leading food manufacturer. Employing around 13,600 colleagues across 16 manufacturing units and 17 distribution depots across the UK. We supply all the UK's food retailers with everything from sandwiches, soups, and sushi to cooking sauces, pickles, and ready meals. In FY23, we generated revenues of £1.9bn.
Our extensive direct-to-store (DTS) distribution network, comprising 17 depots nationwide, enables us to make over 10,400 daily deliveries of our own chilled and frozen produce, as well as third-party products.
What you'll be doing:
We are seeking a Financial Accountant to:
* Produce monthly primary financial statements such as profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow, in line with accounting standards, and prepare related board reports.
* Manage the financial internal control environment and ensure compliance.
* Prepare budgets and forecasts for primary financial statements and fixed costs.
* Reconcile the trial balance and post journals as necessary to ensure month-end reports align with accounting standards.
* Produce primary financial statements using the approved template within the agreed timeframe.
* Prepare month-end commentary for the balance sheet, cash flow, and fixed costs for inclusion in reports.
* Develop balance sheet, cash flow, and fixed cost forecasts for site submissions.
* Monitor and maintain the internal financial control environment.
* Analyze fixed costs and overheads, providing insights and proposing corrective actions.
* Monitor capital expenditure against budgets and forecasts, escalating exceptions.
* Maintain the Fixed Assets register, ensuring proper identification, allocation, and reconciliation.
* Lead, manage, and develop the Assistant Accountant to ensure adherence to business processes.
What we're looking for:
* Qualified or finalist (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or QBE.
* Experience with finance system management and internal controls.
* Leadership experience in managing a team.
* Knowledge of accounting standards.
* Basic understanding of corporation tax and VAT.
* Excellent communication skills with stakeholders.
