Role Overview
We are looking for a qualified Physiotherapist to join the medical therapy team at Watford General Hospital. The role is a full‑time position, working 37.5 hours per week and operates within a 7‑day rota (frequency 1:4 – 1:6 weekends), with rest days in the following week. The successful candidate will also be required to be on the Respiratory on‑call evening rota.
Responsibilities
* Provide highly skilled physiotherapy assessment and treatment of patients across the Medical Wards.
* Work with a diverse range of patient cohorts, including general medicine, neurological conditions, and oncology.
* Apply awareness of NHS discharge pathways and social care requirements to support patient transitions.
* Supervise and support Band 5 physiotherapists, assistants and undergraduates, including providing guidance and training.
* Participate in the regular appraisal and probation processes, and engage in continual professional development through in‑service training and CPD opportunities.
* Contribute to a robust senior tier support system to maintain high standards of patient care.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience as a Band 5 physiotherapist, with an aspiration to progress to Band 6.
* Demonstrated clinical reasoning and effective therapy handling skills.
* Knowledge of NHS discharge pathways and ability to navigate social care referrals.
* Experience in a multidisciplinary setting and capability to provide supervision.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
