The Role Industrial Electrical Technician Reporting to the Operations Director, the Industrial Electrical Technician will work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team alongside mechanical and software specialists. This hands-on role involves the electrical build, installation, and commissioning of bespoke automation equipment both at the companys manufacturing site and on customer premises. Youll play a key part in delivering high-quality control and automation systems, ensuring each project is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards. Key Responsibilities Carry out electrical preparation, installation, and commissioning of bespoke machinery both in-house and on customer sites. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to build and wire control systems accurately. Support machine commissioning activities, assisting with FAT and SAT stages. Provide on-site technical support, liaising with customers and internal teams to resolve issues and deliver smooth project execution. Perform testing, inspection, and fault-finding to ensure full system functionality. Build and wire control panels and electrical assemblies for automation equipment. Install containment systems including ladder, tray, conduit, trunking, and basket. Assist with basic mechanical assembly, pneumatics, and hydraulics when required. Maintain clear communication with project leads and engineers regarding project progress. Uphold company values of safety, integrity, quality, and teamwork at all times. Key Skills & Experience Time-served electrical apprenticeship or equivalent qualification (C&G, NVQ, ONC/HNC). Strong experience in the build, wiring, and installation of industrial machinery or automation systems. Proficient in reading and interpreting technical and electrical drawings. Competent with single and three-phase systems, digital and analogue controls, and electrical fault-finding. Experience building and wiring control panels for machinery and automation projects. Knowledge of servo systems, inverters, and motion control (desirable). Ability to install and terminate containment systems to a high standard. Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems (advantageous). Confident communicator with excellent attention to detail. Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas for project work. Previous experience delivering special purpose machinery or bespoke automation systems from build to installation (highly advantageous). Qualifications Apprenticeship-trained or equivalent in Electrical Engineering. City & Guilds, BTEC ONC/HNC, or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant electrical or automation discipline.
