Newcastle Private Hospital is seeking Registered Nursing applicants to join our Medical Oncology team on a Part-Time basis. The Oncology Unit covers both an Inpatient setting as well as a day oncology area, providing our patients the best possible care during their treatment.

Come and join our expert team of surgeons, specialist doctors, dedicated nurses, and allied health professionals at Newcastle Private Hospital. We are a 189-bed, acute, private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park. The hospital has 11 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a 15-bed Intensive Care Unit.
Our Oncology Department provides specialized care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care. The service includes a 10-bed Inpatient Unit and a 9-chair Day Oncology Service.
We also feature a cardiac suite with a cardiac catheter laboratory and a 16-bed Coronary Care Unit. A private maternity suite with 6 birthing suites and a special care baby nursery is available for families in the Newcastle region. The Newcastle Private Oncology Centre offers comprehensive cancer treatment care, including inpatient and day infusion services.
As a Registered Nurse, your responsibilities will include:
* Undertake acute nursing care in accordance with legislation
* Deliver evidence-based nursing care
* Liaise with the multidisciplinary team
* Ensure patient and staff safety
* Supervise, direct, and guide nursing team members; Enrolled Nurses (ENs) and AINs to deliver patient care
* Proactively assess the nursing care required to ensure the best possible outcome for the patient
* Complete all required documentation in accordance with policies
* Maintain current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
* Minimum of 2 years’ relevant post-registration experience
* Experience working within an acute medical or oncology setting
* Knowledge and application of quality improvement initiatives using research principles
* Ability to work effectively in a supportive team
* Ability to advocate for and implement patient-centered care
* Professional manner when working with complex situations
* Excellent communication skills and willingness to learn new skills
* Flexibility to work a seven-day roster including night shifts

If successful, salary will be based on your relevant experience, ranging from $35.46 to $49.79 per hour, aligned with the current Healthscope and NSWNMA/ANMF Enterprise Agreement 2020-2024.
Additional information: Applicants must provide a current National Police check, WWCC (if applicable), and proof of right to work in Australia prior to appointment. Staff in patient contact roles must provide proof of immunity to specified infectious diseases as a Category A Healthcare worker.
