Electrical and Mechanical Engineer

Tods Technology are looking to recruit for a Electrical and Mechanical Engineer, based on our manufacturing site on Portland, Dorset.

Role:

The role involves design and development of electromechanical systems for production, processing, distributing, and storing Tods proprietary materials. You will be a qualified electrician to 18th Edition (BS 7671:2018+A2:2022 Requirements for Electrical Installations). You will be comfortable working on 3 phase systems and able to design and build safe working systems and maintain them throughout their lifespan.

Typical systems include: composite material curing ovens, temperature-controlled material storage (hot and cold), mixing and transportation of powder and liquid materials in specific ratios for product production. Familiarisation with food processing techniques would bring ideal transferable skills to the role.

Key Responsibilities:

* Undertake and support development of testing facilities in accordance with company standards.
* Design electromechanical and program logic systems to provide the most cost effective and efficient processing solutions.
* Follow Tods Technology Roadmap for development and documentation of test facility development.
* Support customer meetings and requirement specification reviews and other meetings as required.
* Support Production and Quality Assurance in resolving production challenges and provide solutions to ensure conformance.
* Utilise Lean Principles to improve the product, process flow, build cycle and waste reduction.
* Train employees on process, applications, and manufacturing specification data where required.

Personal Requirements:

* Relevant qualification in electrical & mechanical design and processing or equivalent engineering/manufacturing experience
* Computer literate, windows based, understanding of CAD and CAM
* Ability to develop successful working relationships, work on own initiative and as part of a team
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
* Strong problem-solving ability applied through a practical approach
* Continuous Improvement, zero defect and customer focused mind-set
* A good team player with a flexible attitude to work load

Tods has been in existence for more than 90 years, and is a preferred choice for the Royal Navy for the production of sonar domes, acoustic windows, acoustic coatings and other complex structures for surface warships and submarines.

The company has also built an impeccable reputation for quality and delivery to over 25 navies worldwide.

Products and services include the design and manufacture of sonar domes, submarine acoustic windows, acoustic cladding, damping treatments, radomes and other multifunctional structural composite enclosures that enhance the performance of vital sonar, radar and communications equipment.

Tods is a growing business and there will be some limited travel involved to our site on Portland. The role is permanent, offering full time flexible hours of 37 per week. We do offer a 4-day working week.

The salary offered will be totally dependant on the successful candidates relevant experience.
