Overview
Prospero Teaching is recruiting tutors in Barnsley. At Prospero, we work with local authorities to arrange 1:1 tuition for students accessing alternative provision.
What will you be tutoring?
Tuition referrals are for English and Maths. Many students are working below the expected age range, with learning delivery at a KS1 - KS3 level. Example role in Barnsley:
Location: S70, within a library near the students home.
Start Date: September 2025.
End Date: Ongoing
Hours: 10 hours per week
Pay: GBP20 - GBP30 per hour.
The Role: English and Maths tuition for a Year 6 student working below ARE. Expected delivery of knowledge: KS1 - KS2. Student SEN status is ASD and PDA.
When and where will you be tutoring?
Tuition can be held in a number of places:
* Within schools
* Within public places
* Within students homes
At all of the above locations, there will always be an appropriate adult present for your tuition sessions (the student’s parent, carer, or guardian). You will never be left alone with a student.
Tuitions take place within school hours, 9am - 4pm, and clients are flexible on timings. When a role becomes available, we will contact you as the tutor to set preferred hours.
What qualifications do you need?
With our tuition roles, you do not need to be a qualified teacher. We usually ask that you have some form of higher education. Candidates should also have some prior experience within education (at least 4 months) in a school or educational setting, such as a teacher, teaching assistant, or in a pastoral or support role.
