The Governing Body seeks to appoint an inspirational Head of School, at Glan-y-Môr, to work alongside the Executive Headteacher and the Senior Head of School at our partner school Bryngwyn. The vacancy provides an excellent opportunity for an existing senior leader, looking to take the next step in their career. It also provides the opportunity to work alongside an Executive Headteacher and existing Head of School, as well as a range of senior leaders in a collaborative and forward-thinking team.

This is an opportunity to join and take a lead role in a dynamic and flexible leadership team, committed to enabling our pupils to achieve more than they ever thought possible. Your professional development will be important to us. This role reflects the scale and context of the school within the Federation and will prepare the successful applicant for future headship either in the Federation or in another school.

Set on the attractive Millenium coastline of Llanelli, Glan-y-Môr serves a catchment from Llanelli through Pwll, Burry Port to Kidwelly. Glan-y-Môr is a mixed comprehensive school with nearly 600 learners, including a specialist facility for pupils with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) comprising of around 40 pupils, with its own specialist team. Glan-y-Môr is at an exciting phase in its development, with a new leadership team focussed on achieving excellence in everything, embarking on a new phase with an ambitious vision to create a learning organisation that has the greatest impact on the progress, development and wellbeing of its community. Since 2014, the school has worked in strategic federation very successfully with Ysgol Bryngwyn School, Dafen, Llanelli and there have been many beneficial professional development opportunities as part of a Federation.

Glan-y-Môr is a true community school, with strong links and partnerships with local Sports teams utilising the new 3G pitch, local groups using our Youth block facility and close ties with organisations such as the RNLI. Our pupils and staff are proud to be a part of our community and always strive to give every effort to be successful in all that they do.

The Governing Body seeks to appoint an exceptional leader to join the existing high-performing executive leadership team as Head of School for Glan-y-Môr. The Head of School will take responsibility for all aspects of the day-to-day operations on the Glan-y-Môr School site and contribute to the strategic leadership of the Federation in conjunction with the Executive Headteacher and Federation Senior Leadership Team.

You will:

•continually seek and act on feedback to enhance pupil experience, continue to raise progress and standards and further develop as a leader

•be a positive role model for colleagues and pupils alike, fostering trust and respect

•be passionate about ensuring that our pupils succeed by creating an environment where all are encouraged to reach their full potential.

This role will be crucial to the fulfilment of a bold new development plan which is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the evolution of the Federation. As a Head of School, primarily based on the Glan-y-Môr site, the appointed candidate will bring a track record of successful leadership experience, strong organisational and management skills, combined with the strategic abilities to ensure that both Glan-y-Môr and Bryngwyn Schools continue to achieve their ambitious goals.

Applicants must possess the personal authority and gravitas to inspire staff, pupils and parents and a commitment to maintaining the highest possible standards and well-being; key values that reflect the aims and ethos of the School. They must be able to take accountability for all day-to-day operations on site and will contribute to the strategic development of the Federation.

There will be an opportunity to visit the school and have a tour at 4pm on Thursday 30 April 2026.
