Job description for MHE Instructor
Are you passionate about sharing your expertise and delivering high-quality training? We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) Instructor to join our team, delivering essential training and support across Defence Munitions (DM) sites. This is your chance to make a meaningful contribution to Defence while enjoying autonomy and flexibility in your role.
As the MHE Instructor, you will play a pivotal role in delivering training on a wide range of MHE and Industrial Truck Groups (ITG). Based primarily at DM Gosport, you will also provide training at DM Plymouth and, in rare cases, other DM sites. Your responsibilities will include delivering face-to-face MHE instruction, offering subject matter expert advice on MHE matters, observing MHE operating procedures, and supporting MHE auditing as required. You will also construct training materials and presentations, manage training records, and provide expert advice to management and the wider organisation.
This role offers a considerable degree of autonomy, allowing you to plan your own workload and tailor training delivery arrangements. You will work collaboratively with local sites and as part of a central training team, ensuring the highest standards of instruction and support.
This is a face-to-face instruction role, requiring daily attendance on-site at DM Gosport, with occasional opportunities for remote working depending on operational needs. Travel to DM Plymouth will be required approximately one week every other month. If you are ready to take on a rewarding role that combines autonomy, collaboration, and the chance to make a real difference, we would love to hear from you.
If shortlisted, as part of your interview, you will be required to prepare and deliver a presentation that should be no longer than 10 minutes, based around the topic of your choice. More information will be provided closer to the time of your interview.
We champion flexible ways of working. Regular in-person attendance is required (this is expected to be approximately 80% of your working week) to promote the benefits of face-to-face collaboration alongside flexibility of hours to support work-life balance and business need. Initially, you may be expected to attend more frequently to familiarise yourselves with the site, the team, and your role.
