ROLE
You will be responsible for delivering the technical strategy for the business, ensuring that products are always safe and of the highest quality, as well as the day-to-day monitoring of food safety systems. You will oversee all technical and QA activities within the company. Supporting key decisions in this innovative and fast-moving industry, you will help maintain the companys family culture. Your direct reports will include the Technical Manager, QA Manager, and a team of 6 QAs.
You will be tasked with maintaining high standards of GMP, food safety, and integrity.
Responsibilities Include:
* Supporting the Technical Director in developing overall technical strategy, policies, and plans
* Managing the companys quality management system to ensure compliance with standards and HACCP procedures
* Representing the business on technical matters as required
* Coordinating all quality assessments and laboratory activities
* Ensuring inbound and outbound goods and packaging meet specifications
* Leading customer and industry-specific audits at each site
* Managing the internal audit program
* Leading the site HACCP program
* Managing non-conformance investigations and resolutions
* Overseeing GMP auditing systems
* Providing leadership to the technical team and ensuring personal objectives are met
* Fostering team engagement, training, and development
* Collaborating with Operational, Marketing, HR, Finance, Sales, and Production teams to ensure smooth operations
* Motivating the team, building capability and morale, conducting staff reviews, and supporting team development
The Applicant:
* A passionate foodie seeking a rewarding career in a growing family business
* Degree in food science, technology, or processing
* Experience in team development and empowerment
* Solid technical/QA background within food manufacturing
* Food Safety and HACCP Level 3 qualification
* Experience with digital audit and technical systems (preferred)
* Knowledge of raw material and packaging specifications
* Understanding of retailer codes of practice and BRC Global Standard for Food Safety
* Project management and change leadership experience
