A well-established engineering company is seeking a Project Manager to join their growing team. The business specialises in designing, delivering, and installing automated material handling solutions across logistics, warehousing, e-commerce fulfilment, and production environments. Projects vary from small, stand-alone systems to large-scale, multi-site installations. The successful candidate will take full ownership of project delivery, managing the entire lifecycle from concept and technical design through to installation, commissioning, and compliance with UK safety standards. This is a hands-on, full-lifecycle role, where you will coordinate internal engineering teams, external suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification. Multiple projects may be managed concurrently, depending on size and complexity. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end delivery of automation and material handling projects. Validate technical proposals and ensure project solutions are deliverable. Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and commercial performance. Coordinate engineering teams including design, electrical, and software/controls. Oversee subcontractors and supplier partners in line with project timelines. Ensure all projects meet safety and compliance standards. Conduct site visits for surveys, installation supervision, and client liaison. Maintain project documentation, progress reports, and stakeholder communication. Identify and manage risks, variations, and change control. Support handover, commissioning, and post-installation support where required. Experience Required Essential: Proven experience delivering automation, material handling, or related engineering projects. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong understanding of installation, integration, and supplier coordination. Knowledge of UK safety standards, including Machinery Directive and compliance frameworks. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation. Experience in logistics, warehousing, production, or fulfilment environments. Desirable: Experience with modular systems, conveyors, or warehouse automation. Exposure to control systems/PLC integration (awareness, not programming). IOSH or similar safety qualification.
