We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Fleet Manager to join our team at our Head Office, based in Abergavenny. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to take responsibility for overseeing our dedicated transport operations and ensuring our fleet runs efficiently and safely

Robert Price Builders' Merchants Ltd is a family run independent business, with head office in Abergavenny. Founded in 1847, we are a substantial local employer, with the developments and progressions of a modern SME, and the grounding and values of a traditional family run business. We are the largest independent builders' merchant in South East Wales.

What is a builders' merchant?

A builders' merchant is a company which supplies materials to the construction sector.

Up to 85% of the built environment you see around you is supplied by Britain's builders' merchants. Merchants and the supply chain are crucial to the construction industry which contributes over £40 billion to the UK economy each year. A career in this essential commercial sector can be challenging, varied and rewarding.

Our Fleet

Our transport is arranged through our specialist haulage company called P. Davies & Sons Ltd. PDS works only for Robert Price. It runs a mixed fleet of 26T, 18T, 7.5T and 3.5T vehicles, some with cranes and some with Moffatts, to ensure flexible and efficient delivery across our operations.

The role will involve managing over 100 vehicles throughout the group, across 32 branches.

Job Title and Type:

Fleet Manager. Full time, permanent.

Location:

Head Office, Abergavenny.

Hours:

Average of 40 hours per week, typically between 7.30am -4.30pm Monday to Friday.

Salary and Benefits:

* Salary: Negotiable according to experience

Key responsibilities:

* Management and documentation of drivers and fleet
* Preparation and scheduling of servicing, MOT's, Tax and Insurance for all company vehicles
* Assisting in the purchase of vehicles
* Managing driver records e.g. CPC/licences
* Managing the overall upkeep of company vehicles (lorries, forklifts & company cars)
* Delegating repairs to fleet maintenance
* Maintaining an up-to-date log of all company vehicles
* Ensure all vehicles are operating in accordance with legislation and regulations
* Communicating effectively with management and third parties
* Carry out driver assessments where required, to help ensure the vehicles are operated safely and legally
* Carry out roadworthiness checks as reported and required
* Managing the vehicle GPS tracker system and cameras fitted on and inside vehicles

Desirable Skills:

* Qualification in Transport/Fleet Management or equivalent
* Mechanical background
* Interest within a Builders Merchant Industry
