Principal Engineer - Electrical Engineering (Control & Instrumentation)
Job title: Principal C&I Engineer
Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Manchester, Frimley (Hybrid - Travel to Barrow 3-4 times per month required). We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements; please speak to your recruiter about options for this role.
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
What you'll be doing:
* Lead engineering activities for the supply and delivery of Controls and Instrumentation equipment supporting the test and build of the AVC systems.
* Maintain detailed records of part maturity, delivery status, and schedules.
* Specify equipment, analyze requirements, and create Parts and BOMs.
* Understand customer needs, develop, validate, and manage requirements, applying your knowledge of C&I systems.
* Collaborate with system owners, suppliers, and customers to support manufacturing contracting and ensure on-time delivery of C&I equipment.
* Compile technical documentation supporting design, delivery, integration, validation, verification, testing, qualification, and manufacturing.
* Define tests and perform testing on systems and equipment.
* Integrate systems with electronic, mechanical, and software sub-systems, understanding their impact on the entire platform.
* Lead technical work packages, managing design and deliverables.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
* Good understanding of C&I systems design with demonstrable experience.
* Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Physics, Maths, or Science.
* Knowledge of the system engineering lifecycle and application of good practices.
Desirable:
* Awareness of Defence Standards and industry standards like IEC 61508/61511, ARP 4754, DO-178C/DO-254.
* Chartered engineer or working towards this qualification.
