About The Role
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and adaptable Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our friendly Community Paediatric Physiotherapy Team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. This is a temporary position to cover maternity leave for 10 months full time.
The Children’s Therapy Team prides itself as being part of the wider MDT which comprises of Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Autism Assessment Team. We offer a supportive and inclusive working environment with regular supervision and training opportunities.
The successful applicant will be required to have previous experience of working with a paediatric neurodevelopmental caseload. The post holder will work within the service area of Wakefield District and will need to be able to lone work in a variety of settings including clinics, homes and educational settings (mainstream and specialist settings).
The service is forward‑thinking and supportive of new ideas. We operate within our core hours, Monday to Friday between 8 am and 5 pm but offer flexible working arrangements to support work‑life balance and wellbeing of our staff. Regular supervision is provided, and we encourage training and personal development. Access to transport is required and allowances are payable. Attendance at a face‑to‑face interview will be required.

Main Duties
* To provide specialist physiotherapeutic assessment and management of paediatric patients with diverse neurodevelopmental presentations and complex physical symptoms.
* To provide physiotherapy for children with wide‑ranging neurodevelopmental presentations in the hospital and community settings.
* Provide effective holistic and age‑appropriate physiotherapy treatment of children in a suitable environment and hold a patient caseload.
* Provide acute respiratory and orthopaedic ward cover at PGH where cover is required within normal working hours.
* The specialist clinician will collaborate with the multi‑disciplinary team (MDT) to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individual treatment programme for their patients.
* To provide leadership and support to junior therapy colleagues in the assessment and management of paediatric conditions.
* To provide peer support, supervision and second opinions to members of the wider paediatric team.
* To provide clinical education of physiotherapy students on placement.
* Be proactive in self‑development and demonstrate initiative in promoting innovative approach to service development.
* Maintain own professional development and demonstrate high standards of clinical performance and professional practice.
* To undertake a management role where appropriate in the clinical setting, where overseeing, planning and implementing objectives for more junior staff is necessary.
Key Requirements
* Graduate Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
* Registered with the HCPC
* Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio, including attendance at recent and relevant postgraduate courses.
