Care is Central is looking for an individual with knowledge and experience in both planned and reactive maintenance work Ensuring the physical environment is maintained to a high standard across our care home, independent living scheme, public café and the areas used by external customers in all services at Red kite Meadows Care Village.
Red kite Meadows is a brand-new, purpose-built, state-of-the-art care village. Developed in partnership with Central Bedfordshire Council, this service is set to launch in early 2026.

Duties and Responsibilities
· Conduct regular repairs as required to a high standard including plumbing, electrical and decorative
· Ensure the physical environment is maintained to a high standard
· Complete PPM reports on fire systems and equipment including emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, fire dampeners and fire doors. Ensuring fire safety compliance is adhered to in full
· Ensure regular Health and Safety audits are completed and actioned within the premises
· Complete daily walkarounds of external and internal premises, ensuring complex building systems are functioning appropriately
· Ensure Water Legionella risk maintenance tasks are completed fully, including water temperature checks and infrequently used outlet flushing
· Maintaining records to schedule future work, detect repeat faults and provide legislative proof of servicing. Records will be kept up-to-date, complete and well organised
· Supporting contractors to access facilities and promote external relationships with partner organisations, maintaining Care is Central values in all interactions.
· Always maintain excellent verbal and written communication, utilising digital technology where required.
Requirements
· Possess an NVQ, HNC, HND, or other relevant Maintenance Qualification. Alternatively, substantial experience in a maintenance or similar role is also acceptable.
· Knowledge and experience of both planned and reactive maintenance work.
· Ability to conduct repairs, general decoration, and basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks, regular checks and maintenance of safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and alarms.
· Safely and effectively use a variety of hand and power tools.
· Interacting with onsite building contractors and developing relationships with regular engineers. An approachable demeanour and the ability to build a professional rapport with staff and residents are important qualities
· A strong understanding of Health and Safety and Fire Safety regulations
· A good standard of verbal and written English, with the ability to maintain accurate records.
· Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and online reporting platforms, are necessary.
· The ability to work independently and promote the safety and wellbeing of residents is essential.
· A positive 'can do' attitude and a drive for continuous improvement.
· Strong problem-solving abilities.
· Flexibility to work outside normal hours when required is necessary.
· A full driving license with the ability to travel between sites is required.
