Head of Civil/Structural Engineering
***GPW Recruitment is currently seeking a Head of Civil/Structural Engineering to join an Engineering and Projects Delivery business. The company specializes in the design, installation, management, and consultancy of bulk material handling systems across various sectors, with particular expertise in tunnelling, aggregates, and ports.
The primary responsibility of the Head of Civil/Structural Engineering is to oversee the delivery of civil and structural engineering scopes across projects, studies, and bids. This includes ensuring that designs adhere to the highest standards of safety, code compliance, scope accuracy, quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery. The role also involves promoting structural efficiency, cost optimization, and quality of output through effective resource management and acting as a business subject matter expert.
This is a functional role with management duties and occasional customer-facing responsibilities.
Essential Minimum Qualifications:
* BEng (Hons) in Engineering, preferably Civil or Structural
* Chartered Engineer (CEng), preferably with ICE or IStructE
* Minimum 12 years of experience in a Civil/Structural engineering field
Knowledge and Skills:
* Knowledge of the construction and process industries and applicable standards
* Ability to use structural analytical software such as STAAD Pro or TEKLA Structures unaided
* Ability to interpret site investigation reports and assess civil implications
* Understanding of load cases and combinations, and ability to verify that structures behave as intended through calculations or analysis
* Experience in managing teams to meet project delivery expectations
