The CNC Grinder Role:
We are seeking an experienced CNC Grinder to join our precision engineering team, supporting the manufacture and repair of aerospace components. This is a hands-on, high-precision role requiring a background in surface or cylindrical grinding within a quality-focused environment.
CNC Grinder Responsibilities:
* Set up and operate CNC grinding machines for high-precision aerospace components
* Interpret and work from complex engineering drawings and specifications
* Perform surface, cylindrical, and form grinding on a variety of materials
* Conduct in-process inspection using micrometers, bore gauges, and comparators
* Adhere to tight tolerances and ensure parts meet strict quality standards
* Maintain accurate production records and route cards
* Contribute to continuous improvement and lean initiatives on the shop floor
* Follow safety protocols and work within ISO 9001 / AS9100 compliance frameworks
Previous Experience & Skills:
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a CNC or precision grinder
* Experience with both CNC and manual grinding machines (Studer, Jones & Shipman, etc.)
* Proficient in using precision measuring instruments and self-inspection
* Comfortable handling small and medium-sized components (lifting aids available)
* Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a production team
* Strong attention to detail, with a focus on quality and repeatability
