A fantastic and exciting opportunity has arisen within Banbury Cross Health Centre for a committed, enthusiastic, and self‑motivated individual to join the team as a General Practice Advanced Practitioner.
In this role you will work as part of a clinical team with GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Mental Health Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists and Healthcare Assistants across the PCN. You will provide high‑quality, patient‑centred care, diagnosing and prescribing treatments and medication while working within the procedures and protocols set by the GPs.
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, effective and evidence‑based care for a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, including autonomous clinical decision‑making for assessment, diagnosis and treatment.
- Actively promote healthy lifestyles and disease prevention, providing targeted advice and facilitating referrals to community and specialist services.
- Collaborate closely with GPs, nurses and other health‑care professionals to deliver integrated care within defined pathways, providing enhanced clinical advice to internal stakeholders and external partners such as the ambulance service and district nurses.
- Participate in structured development programmes, progressing towards qualifications such as a Level 7 (Master’s) and engaging in reflective practice and continuous professional development.
- Support the practice’s administrative workload, including handling pathology results and electronic records, and contribute to clinical audits, risk assessments and service evaluations aligned with organisational objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Registered Nurse with the NMC.
- Non‑Medical Prescriber (V300).
- Level 7 Minor Illness and/or Advanced History‑Taking Module.
- Commitment to completing advanced qualifications, including Level 7 Masters.
- Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proven clinical decision‑making skills for both acute and chronic conditions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively across organisational boundaries.
- Previous experience managing minor illness.
- Experience working in primary care or similar settings.
- Ability to assess and manage paediatric patients.
- Compassionate and patient‑centred approach.
- Proactive problem‑solving with excellent time‑management skills.
- Resilient under pressure and adaptable to dynamic work environments.
