Main objectives of the role will be overseeing day to day operations including manufacturing, purchasing, supply chain, production scheduling, logistics, quality control, automation, plant and warehouse management & maintenance. Interim Operations experience i.e., supporting operations change management, product and / or operations transfer will be an added advantage. LFL is planning for a significant growth within the next 5 years, Operations Manager will be responsible for change projects and product / operations transfer that will enable long-term growth. Job Dimensions: This is a full-time onsite role based in Ponteland, Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. This role reports to General Manager of the business. This role requires an outstanding leader, communicator and exceptional team player who can lead and deliver objectives of the department. Key activities of this role include the following: Operational plan (Strategic / Tactical) for the business – Development and Implementation Drive change management projects – product / operational transfer to other sites Drive production and operational activities in line with monthly targets Optimise cost and increase throughput and efficiency Driving quality control in the supply chain and limit in process rejections Timely delivery of products through optimised stock levels and increased efficiency Management of purchasing, supply chain and logistical activities Promote Health and Safety and make the environment a safer space to work. Key Accountabilities: These will include: Change Management Operations planning Production management Purchasing / Supply chain management Inventory planning and control Quality control Process Enhancement People ManagementQualifications: Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience Overall Experience: 15-20 years, with minimum 7 years in operational leadership roles. Interim Operations experience – supporting operations change management, product and / or operations transfer is an advantage. Industry: Electrical component manufacturing. Switchgear / Fusegear experience will be an added advantage Global Experience: Experience of working on multi-site production (Asian experience, added advantage) Contract Type: Fixed term contract (FTC): 2 years. Experience in Operations Planning Create and implement medium term plan focusing on capacity, workforce planning, equipment / facility modernisation, process improvements and supply chain strategy Create and implement yearly budget plan focusing on production strategy, cost saving initiatives, purchasing efficiencies, Capex / Opex projects and headcount requirements. Experience working as part of a team to in managing and implementing change management programs across operations and businesses Work on process improvements and/or value engineering activities with R&D team to improve throughput, efficiency and cost optimisation. Transfer of products / Operations between sites to improve cost and reduce material /labour ratiosExperience in People Management: Work closely with production staff and ensure safe working conditions and reduce accidents at site Optimise and reduce direct labour in line with medium terms goals of the firm and ensure appropriate level of staffing corresponding to business demandDoes this sound interesting?
