Salary: £40,000 plus Inner London Allowance £3,333 per annum.

Location: London – Hybrid Working.

Contract: Permanent – 35 hours per week.

Join Our Influencing Team as a Public Affairs Manager

We are looking for a pro-active, knowledgeable and experienced Public Affairs Manager working in London on a Hybrid basis. You will be Action for Children’s expert and lead adviser for Westminster government (UK-wide) public affairs and political influencing. You will strategically manage and oversee key political relationships, implementing our influencing priorities, ensuring the work of the Influencing Team is politically astute and makes the most of external opportunities.

How you'll help to create brighter futures

* Lead the development of political influencing activity to deliver Action for Children’s priorities to improve the lives of disadvantaged children.
* Lead and deliver Action for Children’s UK public affairs strategy.
* Represent Action for Children to external audiences, including speaking at Parliamentary events, professional networks, conferences, and other influential forums.
* Provide professional support to the Campaigns, Advocacy and Policy Advisors in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland whilst matrix managing the Influencing Officer, based in London.
* Manage Action for Children’s public affairs activity to ensure we ‘keep the child at the centre’ and provide engagement opportunities for a wide range of internal and external audiences.
* Establish strong links between our services and local MPs.
* Collaborate directly with colleagues in all four nations to ensure that campaigns and public affairs influencing activity meets agreed UK and national priorities, including the direct line management of staff as appropriate.
* Provide strategic input, political analysis and influencing expertise for the development of Action for Children’s policy planning and activity.

Let's talk about you

* Proven experience in working relationships with politicians, officials and civil servants at all levels with the ability to influence, advise and inform.
* Excellent influencing skills, including the ability to analyse and interpret complex information and frame to resonate with senior political audiences.
* Good analytical skills, including to make and communicate strategic risk-based decisions within a large complex organisation.
* Excellent organisation and planning skills to respond quickly but professionally to the demands of the fast moving political, policy and media agendas.
* Excellent interpersonal skills to influence activity across departments, collaborate with senior colleagues, other organisations and to work effectively in a team.
