Description Expanding on our successful delivery in AMP7, Costain Group PLC is collaborating with UK water companies to implement strategic capital delivery programmes for their £108 billion AMP8 investment cycle. We are currently seeking an Engineering Team Lead to join our growing Civil & Structural team within our growing Engineering & Design Services capability. This key role will support secured frameworks with confirmed demand from Northumbrian Water, Thames Water, Severn Trent Water, United Utilities, and Southern Water. As our Engineering Team Lead (Water) - you will working in a multi-disciplinary team delivering infrastructure projects. This is an exciting and challenging role in a growing team of 130 Civil and Structural Engineers and Designers. Our department covers a range of projects from Concept Studies through to Detailed Design provide a variety of interesting work. Industries can range across Water, Transportation, Energy, Nuclear and Defence. You will lead a team of Civil and Structural Engineers providing technical guidance and support to a team delivering work in the Water sector. You will be responsible for the delivery of civil and structural work across multiple projects providing bid, estimating and technical input to projects. Based in the Manchester circa 2-3 days per week with a requirement to undertake occasional site visits, attend design reviews and client meetings. You will provide support and guidance to team members to facilitate capability and professional development. You will challenge yourself and others to deliver value engineering design solutions. You will be an effective, confident communicator with our client portfolio. LI-MR1 Responsibilities As a client facing Engineering Team Leader, your responsibilities will include: Managing a growing team of 15 Engineers and Graduates including resource allocation, team utilisation, competency and performance management. Interfacing effectively with project management functions, other engineering disciplines and construction teams. Developing engineering and design execution plans for bids and projects. Providing time/cost estimates for water sector projects. Ensure that engineering work is being completed in accordance with relevant codes, standards and company/client procedures. Maintaining the required technical quality of work produced by the team. Contributing towards project work with engineering analysis, calculations and reporting. Ensuring all assigned work is carried out in compliance with agreed budget and schedule and project risks/changes are identified and accurately controlled. Providing engineering input to design, checks and advice, including innovating, developing new solutions and contribute towards value engineering. Leading the development of knowledge and skills within the team, including assisting in the training and technical development of designers and apprentices. Communicating and collaborating with clients, projects and sites to promote the C&S engineering team capability. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Essential Extensive UK experience in water/infrastructure at all stages of the project lifecycle. Good knowledge of engineering working practices and requirements of the discipline within the UK water industry. Extensive knowledge of UK legislation and standards and CDM implementation Awareness of risk identification, quantification, management and of HSE requirements Desirable Experience with optioneering assessments, defining scopes of work, supporting estimates and business development. Greenfield and Brownfield project experience within water section. Experience in leading teams and supporting more junior engineers. Knowledge and experience of common forms of contracts. Project Management experience Qualifications Essential Minimum BEng Civil or Structural Engineering Chartered Engineer with the ICE or IStructE CSCS Eligible for security clearance Desirable A Project Management qualification CCNSG
