We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join our friendly, supportive multidisciplinary team. You will work alongside trained nursing and therapy staff to assist in the day-to-day care and management of patients, ensuring they receive safe, high-quality nursing care on our Neurological Rehabilitation unit in Welwyn.
Responsibilities include:
1. Undertaking personal care duties such as bathing, toileting, dressing, supporting with meals, and assisting patients with their appointments.
2. Maintaining patients' bed spaces to be clean, tidy, and accessible, with necessary items within easy reach.
3. Practicing safe standards of care following Trust guidelines and policies, maintaining concentration throughout the day despite occasional interruptions.
4. Adhering to infection prevention and health and safety policies and procedures.
5. Updating patient records with basic information such as fluid balance, nutrition, height, weight, and age.
6. Developing skills to facilitate patient self-care and independence.
7. Ensuring equipment and supplies are well maintained and reporting faults promptly.
8. Working effectively as part of a team.
Opportunities for progression to Band 3 include:
* Performing patient observations (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, respirations, blood glucose, GCS).
* Collecting and testing urine samples.
* Wound swaps, observations, and simple dressings.
* Removing peripheral cannulas and conducting urinalysis.
