Overview
The Head of FP&A will lead financial planning and analysis activities within the not-for-profit sector, ensuring robust financial insight and support for organisational decision-making. This role is based in Bath and requires expertise in accounting and finance to deliver strategic guidance and operational excellence.
Description
Lead and coordinate the development of the 5-year financial plan, supporting strategy through robust scenario modelling, sensitivity analysis, risk assessment, and strategic recommendations.
Deliver quarterly reforecasts for income and associated costs across multiple locations
Provide authoritative financial analysis, insight, and advice to inform strategic initiatives, investment decisions, and resource allocation.
Provide senior-level financial analysis and oversight and narrative for monthly management accounts variances against budget for tuition income, franchise fee, marketing & outreach expenditure and student recruitment commissions, ensuring an accurate interpretation and explanation of variances.
Produce concise, high impact financial commentary that supports decision-making by senior leaders and budget holders.
Lead development and refinement of financial models, ensuring accuracy, transparency and strategic alignment.
Provide advanced scenario planning and financial modelling expertise to support major strategic decisions and risk assessments.
Line manage the Finance Analyst, ensuring strong performance, development, and continuous improvement.
Promote collaboration across Finance, including with Finance Systems and Management Accounts teams.
Profile
ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA or equivalent professional qualification.
Significant experience working within the university sector in a similar financial planning, forecasting, or analytical leadership role.
Proven experience of developing financial plans, long‑term forecasts, and scenario modelling.
Experience of successfully leading and managing direct reports
Experience producing financial analysis for senior leadership decision‑making.
Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling principles.
Experience working in a complex organisation with multiple income streams and cost drivers.
Experience of working within the Higher Education sector
Job Offer
