We are looking for Graduates for our Building Services teams, who have a flexible approach and an appetite to learn in a leading Engineering and Professional Advisory services consultancy. We are recruiting for Graduates in the following services and locations:
* Building Services: London, Basingstoke, Brighton, Cambridge, Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham, Leeds and Edinburgh.
* Smart Buildings: London

A little bit more about your role and the team…
Working as a Graduate in one of our Building Services teams will mean working on exciting and innovative projects including large office buildings, hospitals, hotels, residential complexes, data centres and education buildings. The role of a Building Services Engineer involves designing, developing, and maintaining the essential systems and services that ensure the functionality, safety, and comfort of buildings. This includes heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical systems, and public health services. You will be embedded in multidisciplinary teams and mentored by experienced engineers, gaining exposure to real-world challenges and innovative solutions.

* Hotel redevelopments
* 22 Bishopsgate
* 40 Leadenhall
* Fulham Football Club
* Leeds Hospital of the Future programme
* High scale Data Centres
* Heathrow & Gatwick Airports – Departure lounge reconfigurations, Pier extensions and baggage system upgrades
Our Building Services Teams
Building Services/MEP Our teams are dedicated to designing people-centric, high-performance buildings. Working closely with clients to fully understand the purpose and potential of each project, ensuring our solutions are robust for today’s needs and flexible for tomorrow’s ambitions. Our sector-specific knowledge allows us to work on buildings in all sectors, ranging from complex office environments and retail centres, to museums and educational establishments, and from residential developments to laboratories and data centres. We have extensive experience in buildings services engineering for healthcare facilities, and we have designed some of the most complex healthcare systems. Our teams also provide services for major transportation hubs such as train and subway stations and airports, as well as for industrial facilities. Every day is different, and every project is a chance to innovate and learn.
Day-to-day activities could include:
* Collaborating with External stakeholders.
* Conducting site inspections and ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
* Drafting Mechanical or Electrical layouts, using Revit or AutoCAD and running calculations.
* Reviewing technical drawings and coordinating with other disciplines.
* Supporting Senior Engineers in preparing tender documents.
* Attending site visits to observe installations or conduct surveys.
* Participating in sustainability assessments (e.g. BREEM).
Building Services – Building Technology Systems
Our SMART Buildings team is a leader in Smart strategy development through the construction process and technical ICT & AV design. We are passionate about deeply understanding clients’ needs and collaborating to specify the right technologies to enable their current aims, while positioning them to be able to adopt and integrate future technology. To do this, WSP’s Building Technology Systems team offers a complete and comprehensive technology consulting service, collaborating with owners, designers and contractors to deliver award-winning projects in the UK and globally.
Day-to-day activities could include:
* Collaborating across WSP with specialists in areas like MEP, Security, Lighting, ICT, AV to develop holistic and comprehensive Smart Buildings solutions.
* Gathering requirements from stakeholders, understanding client problems and opportunities, and what the desired outcomes should be.
* Designing and specifying implementation of these technologies, documenting formal requirements for approval and development.
* Working closely with project stakeholders to develop recommendations and work appropriate to the client’s business needs.
* Presenting work outputs and thoughts to clients both as part of project delivery and also as client internal change management.
Building Services Energy & Sustainability
Our Energy & Sustainability Engineers work at the forefront of sustainable building design. We are experts at assessing the energy use and carbon emissions of buildings and advising clients and project teams on how best to reduce them. The team has a diverse range of specialists in building energy modelling, Whole Life Carbon assessment and sustainability certifications. Our services are increasingly focused on helping understand optimal solutions in a holistic way, balancing embodied carbon, operational energy use and the health and wellbeing of building users.
Day-to-day activities could include:
* Developing building simulation models to assess the performance of a project in terms of its operational Energy Use Intensity (EUI) and the thermal comfort of occupants.
* Assessing how environmental design strategies and technologies can reduce building energy consumption and coordinating with the wider design team on their implementation.
* Calculating the Whole Life Carbon (WLC) impacts of buildings and identifying opportunities for reduction.
* Identifying approaches to incorporate Circular Economy principles in building design.
* Reviewing the applicable planning and regulatory requirements for building energy use and carbon emissions and other sustainability criteria.
* Assessing the risks of climate change to building performance.
We work closely with building owners, tenants, and developers from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on user experience, operational efficiency, and sustainability in the built environment. Future projects are likely to include Heathrow and Gatwick expansion plans on their journey towards net zero, as well as Stadia projects, and new and refurbished Healthcare facilities.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
You’ll have graduated with at least a 2:2 in a master’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject for the role you are applying for.
* Candidates must complete the application form in full answering all specific questions. This applies to all candidates. Successful completion of this stage is mandatory. Candidates who pass this initial stage will then complete an online skill enabler assessment. Both the application form and the skill enabler assessment are essential parts of the early career recruitment process.
