Contract: Part Time • Salary: £12.21 Per Hour • Shift Type: Days • Contracted hours: 15
La Fontana Dementia Nursing Home is nestled on the outskirts of Martock, surrounded by the Somerset countryside. This innovative, purpose-built home provides specialist Dementia and Nursing care for up to 76 residents. We’re looking for a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team, ensuring the preparation and delivery of high-quality meals, while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. This position is 15 hours per week with a shift pattern of 7.30am – 3.30pm and 12.00 noon – 8.00pm, with alternate weekends including a Saturday and Sunday.

Responsibilities
* Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of food, helping to get meals ready efficiently and to a high standard.
* Kitchen Cleanliness: Maintain general cleanliness and tidiness in the kitchen area, including equipment and appliances, ensuring a hygienic environment.
* Delivery Handling: Receive, check, and safely store kitchen deliveries, ensuring items are accounted for and stored properly.
* Food Safety: Understand and implement safe food handling principles to meet high standards of food safety.
* Cleaning Procedures: Follow cleaning procedures for surfaces and equipment, ensuring sanitization and maintenance.
* Presentation: Ensure areas are well-presented and maintained to a professional kitchen standard.
* Safe Work Practices: Practice safe systems of work across tasks to minimise risk and ensure a safe working environment.
* Health & Safety: Understand and adhere to Health and Safety at Work legislation and ensure compliance.
* Professionalism: Act in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
* Team Collaboration: Contribute to teamwork and support colleagues.
* Storage: Manage safe and tidy storage of supplies and equipment.
* Policy Adherence: Read, understand and adhere to company policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
* Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage tasks and maintain a clean, orderly kitchen.
* Food Safety Knowledge: Basic understanding of food safety and handling principles.
* Attention to Detail: Keen attention to cleanliness, storage, and delivery handling.
* Communication Skills: Good communication with kitchen staff and management.
* Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented kitchen environment.
Desired Experience
* Previous Experience: Experience in a kitchen or food preparation role is advantageous but not essential.
* Food Handling Knowledge: Familiarity with food handling and safety procedures is beneficial.
