We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated team player to joint our Patient Experience team in a challenging yet rewarding role.

The post holder will be responsible for the day to day management of a team of Patient Experience Administrators providing secretarial and administrative support to Consultants, Medical Staff and other staff.

The post holder will provide an effective communication link to patients, administrative staff and the Trust. They will monitor the timelines of patient treatment to ensure that patients are seen within National waiting times. They will provide a personal point of contact for patients at any point of the ophthalmology pathway and will liaise with other departments to arrange a wide spectrum of hospital visits along that pathway. This includes overseeing the smooth running of clinics, as well as supervising the administrator team. The Patient Experience Co-ordinator will also be expected to demonstrate a pro-active approach to work and with minimal supervision.

The post-holder will demonstrate excellent organisational skills, must be flexible in approach, able to exercise initiative and demonstrate a consistently high standard of professionalism, being aware of the need
for confidentiality and integrity. Fundamental to this post is the ability to multi-task and effectively manage their workload working to tight deadlines.

Person specification

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria

1. Educated to GCSE level grades A-C in Maths & English or equivalent experience or qualification.
2. ECDL or equivalent experience.
3. Recognised audio/typing qualification/experience

Desirable criteria

4. Educated to degree level.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria

5. Previous secretarial / administration experience at management level.
6. Knowledge of medical terminology
7. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
8. Experience of working in a customer focused environment including face-toface
9. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)

Desirable criteria

10. NHS experience within a busy hospital environment
11. Supervisory experience
