The role
The Visitor and Sales Team Leader role provides an exceptional visitor experience for all visitors to Royal Museums Greenwich. Visitor and Sales Team Leaders welcome visitors on arrival, encourage them to learn about and engage with the collections and ensure they have an enjoyable visit to all Royal Museums Greenwich sites. The post holders will support Royal Museums Greenwich in the delivery of its commercial objectives by developing product knowledge, demonstrating outstanding selling skills and achieving sales targets.
Visitor and Sales Team Leaders are responsible for delivering the Admissions, Retail and Visitor experience services to the highest possible standard, by putting visitors first and promoting the Royal Museum Greenwich’s brand values. Key duties include leading the team of Visitor and Sales Assistants on a day-to-day basis to ensure the delivery of an exceptional visitor experience, providing the Visitor and Sales Assistants with immediate feedback, guidance and support to ensure smooth running of operations and team confidence. Acting as the initial contact for visitor complaints and queries, escalating to a Visitor and Sales Manager as required.
Further core responsibilities involve supporting and facilitating activities and events being held by other departments such as Engagement, Events and Curatorial, as well as assisting Visitor and Sales Managers in the co-ordination of emergency procedures to ensure the safety of all visitors, staff and volunteers. The Visitor and Sales Team Leaders will in addition become qualified First Aiders and act as the initial contact for first aid incidents.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to connect, share knowledge and engage sensitively with a diverse range of staff, volunteers and visitors, and to enable visitors to explore and enjoy the galleries by interpreting themes clearly and accurately. A good knowledge and proficiency in our Retail and Admissions processes, Galaxy and Cybertill, are required, along with willingness to develop knowledge of gallery content, Royal Museums Greenwich activities and retail products across all sites. Reliability, flexibility and strong teamworking skills are essential.
This is a full time, fixed-term role in Band 7 - Coordinators. Net working hours (i.e. excluding 1 hour per day in rest breaks) will be 33.75 hours per week, with shifts between 8am and 8pm including weekends and bank holidays. Shifts will be variable and subject to operational requirements.
