Job Purpose
Kibble Education and Care Centre offers an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Child and Youth Care Worker. This is a temporary 12-month position involving direct work with young people who, for various reasons, cannot remain at home and are placed at Kibble following instructions from a Children’s Hearing or Court.
Main Duties
To work with children and young people in a trauma-informed manner tailored to individual needs. Workers may be based in secure, residential, or community settings and must demonstrate commitment, flexibility, and resilience in challenging situations. Working days and nights are required, with support from appropriate training and a workplace mentor.
Worker Profile
During the 12-month program, you will be expected to:
* Promote effective communication with children and young people to foster trust and involvement.
* Support the management of challenging behaviors, promoting the health, well-being, and rights of young people.
* Collaborate with parents, carers, and external agencies to understand roles and responsibilities involved in the care of the young people.
* Demonstrate strong communication skills—verbal, written, and IT—to perform administrative and related duties.
* Encourage positive group living through planning, implementing, and reviewing daily living programs.
* Work towards completing an HNC qualification in Social Services, gaining understanding of health, well-being, safeguarding, legislation, and care planning.
* Be willing and able to drive school transport; a driving license is essential.
* Manage and motivate yourself through supervision and mentorship, taking the lead in your professional development.

Group Assessment: Monday 9th June 2025 (AM 9-12.30) or (PM 1-4.30)
1-1 Interviews: Wednesday 11th June 2025 (via Zoom).
