About the role:
As the Head of Safeguarding, Health, and Wellbeing at COPC, your role will require you to be responsible for the safeguarding, health, and wellbeing support services, ensuring students are safe, secure, and supported in college, at home and in their community.
Key Responsibilities:
* To manage the Safeguarding, Health, and Wellbeing teams at COPC to ensure high-performance and effective processing of safeguarding cases and student support.
* To fulfil the role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE).
* Engage the full range of statutory, professional, and voluntary services external to COPC, to support ongoing needs of individual students, liaising with both Curriculum and Learning Support Teams to ensure that a joined-up approach is adopted.
* Provide effective line management of COPC’s Safeguarding, Health, and Wellbeing Teams (including counselling and nurse), including:
* Managing caseloads of team members
* Leading on high quality initiatives to support emotional, mental, physical, and sexual health advice and support
* Supporting students In Care or Care Experienced, and Unaccompanied Minors (UAMs) and Pre-16s
* Providing effective supervision for the teams.
* To lead the Safeguarding, Health and Wellbeing Board, and Safeguarding meetings.
* Support in preparing reports for the DSL for SMT, ELT and Governors.
To be successful in this role, below is what we would need from you:
* Level 3 Professional Qualification (e.g. Safeguarding, Social Care or Youth Work)
* GCSE or Level 2 equivalent English and Maths
* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
* Excellent Understanding of Safeguarding and Prevent in a Post 16 setting
* Experience of using an online platform to record and monitor safeguarding and prevent concerns (e.g. MyConcern)
* Experience of contributing towards multi-agency professional’s meetings and driving impact and positive outcomes
* Substantial experience of recognising and responding to risks in terms of safeguarding in an educational context.
* Outstanding accuracy and attention to detail
* Confident in the use of IT systems
* Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
