Salary: MPS 1-6 TLR £3,000

The School
This thriving independent special school for students aged 6 to 25 years old in the historic town of Rochester. The school provides a holistic, child-centred approach to meeting the needs of students, most of whom have an Education and Health Care Plan. Identified needs may include Autism Spectrum Disorder, dyslexia, speech, language and communication difficulties, DCD, sensory, and high levels of anxiety.
The Role
Are you a passionate science educator ready to lead and innovate? We are support the school who are seeking a dynamic Head of Science to guide Key Stage 3, 4 & 5 learners through an engaging, inclusive, and holistic science curriculum.
As Head of Science, you will:
1. Lead the strategic development of the Science department
2. Deliver high-quality teaching across key stages, tailored to individual needs
3. Support and mentor staff, ensuring excellence in teaching and learning
4. Collaborate with leadership and therapeutic teams to provide a holistic educational experience
5. Oversee curriculum planning, assessment, and data reporting
6. Champion inclusion, equality, and diversity in every aspect of your work
The school offers a holistic, child-centred approach to education, supported by a team of 91 Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Administrators and Therapists. This team works in a caring and nurturing environment, united by a belief that all students have the opportunity to make progress and experience success every day in a safe and secure setting.
The site boasts well-resourced classrooms, small class sizes, music and drama facilities, Mathematics labs, therapy rooms, and excellent vocational teaching areas such as hair and beauty studios, a coffee shop, catering kitchens, and spaces for students to enjoy social times. Staff are both welcoming and friendly, and there is a collaborative culture where resources and best practices are shared.

Requirements:
Right to work in the UK
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK
A genuine passion for teaching
Strong classroom management skills
