Step into a role where your modelling expertise shapes real world decisions across offshore renewable energy and coastal engineering. As an Ocean Modeller you will join a dynamic team that thrives on technical curiosity and practical impact. You will work with advanced numerical models to support studies and operational forecasts while contributing to projects that help clients understand and manage the oceans they depend on.

You will be part of a collaborative group of specialists who value innovation and clear thinking. Your work will span hydrodynamic modelling data interpretation and technical reporting along with hands on involvement in cloud based HPC systems. This is a chance to grow your skills in a supportive environment while helping deliver high quality insights for clients around the world.

Your role and responsibilities:

1. Support team objectives, providing assistance to the Team Leader to help deliver client focused work and maintain delivery excellence across the modelling team
2. Train and support colleagues, offering guidance to junior team members when needed and contribute to developing skills within the group
3. Act as technical focal point, serving as a go to person for specific modelling or technical areas within the team
4. Run numerical models, implementing and operate hydrodynamic models in hindcast or forecast mode for a range of offshore and coastal applications
5. Produce technical reports, writing clear accurate reports that meet Fugro standards and communicate modelling results effectively
6. Interpret metocean outputs, analysing and interpreting model results during and after studies to support client decisions
7. Manage desk studies, acting as project manager for desktop studies including scheduling resource planning and client communication with support from senior staff
8. Monitor AWS based HPC systems, assisting in monitoring and optimising the team’s cloud based HPC infrastructure including EC2 instances S3 storage and networking.

What you’ll need to thrive in this role:

9. Master’s degree in oceanography or a related field with PhD preferred
10. Must have Hydrodynamic modelling experience, working with models such as, but not limited to, D3D HYCOM or ROMS
11. Model review capability, ability to review model setups and outputs from junior colleagues
12. Experience with Linux and MATLAB with Python desirable
13. Familiarity with managing HPC resources, Slurm, with Cloud based systems desirable
14. Experience in swiftly addressing operational forecast modelling related issues
15. Proven success working within a multidisciplinary team
16. Strong written and spoken English
17. Understanding of industry needs and experience supporting client focused work
