About the role
Raytheon UK is looking for a dynamic, ambitious and experienced Senior Hardware Engineer to work within the Power business. Reporting to a Programme Engineering Manager, this role offers excellent development opportunities and the chance to work alongside a highly skilled technical team. You will support projects from concept to final production, lead and maintain the world‑class power product portfolio and technical roadmap, and collaborate with systems, mechanical, software, safety and reliability disciplines. The work location will primarily be at our Glenrothes or Livingston facilities, with frequent customer site visits in the UK and occasional travel to the US.
Skills and Experience
* Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
* Experience in analogue and power electronics design, cost and schedule management
* Strong problem‑solving skills with practical laboratory testing and circuit construction
* Excellent communication, able to lead and engage technically within the company and with customers
* Eligible for or holding SC security clearance
Desirable
* Innovative thinker with self‑motivation
* Knowledge of high‑speed digital design
* Experience with programmable devices
* Experience designing Switch‑Mode Power Supplies, including inverter and PFC design of full‑bridge, flyback, and forward topologies
* Experience using PCB layout tools for power supply layout; proficiency in circuit simulation (MATLAB, LTspice)
* Familiarity with recognized standards (MIL‑STD, IPC, etc.)
* Component selection and derating analysis experience
* Hands‑on workshop skills, including soldering
* Awareness and application of Design for Manufacture & Test (DFM&T)
Responsibilities
* Work effectively within a multidisciplinary design team
* Capture, interpret and create design specifications from customer requirements
* Lead and direct analogue and power electronic product design and development, solving complex technical problems for new and existing products
* Capture electronic schematics, perform PCB layout and simulation
* Design, commission, debug circuits and diagnose faults throughout project lifecycle
* Design to cost and schedule, working within approved budgets
* Document verification and product qualification against industry and customer standards
* Maintain hands‑on experience with electronic components; assemble, test and troubleshoot hardware in a laboratory environment
* Configure product designs and manage controlled changes
* Prepare technical documents and reports
* Support customer discussions and lead expertise in relevant areas
* Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
