About Us:
Elsham Golf Club is a prestigious and well-established private members' golf
club with a proud history and a commitment to excellence. Our present
bookkeeper is due to retire at Christmas, and we are currently seeking a
dedicated and detail-oriented, experienced Bookkeeper to join our team and
help manage our financial records and contribute to the smooth operation of
the club's finances and administration.
Job Summary:
Your direct report is to the Club's Business Manager.
The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records,
processing transactions, and producing regular financial reports using Xero
accounting software BrightPay payroll. The Club uses the Club V1
management systems and knowledge of this would be an advantage.
This is a key role within the club's administrative team and requires a proactive
and organised individual.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and reconcile all accounting records using Xero/Club systems.
Process accounts payable and receivable and journal entries.
Reconcile bank account statements.
Reconcile other balance sheet control accounts relevant to a private
member's golf club.
Reconcile weekly hospitality golf booking takings, including the Club's
card transaction control account with merchant balance via use of on-line
portal(s).
Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations submitting timely HMRC PAYE
returns.
The Club is registered for VAT under HMRC's partial exemption rules.
Support the Business Manager with the production of various financial
reports.
Assist with membership billing, credit control and other club-related
financial and administrative activities.
Other Responsibilities:
Provide general administrative support to the Business Manager as
required from time to time.
Serve as first point of call for members, visitors, suppliers – in person, by
phone, and via email.
Manage member records, subscriptions, and communications using the
club's management system (Club Systems).
Coordinate club diaries and bookings, including competitions, events and
meetings.
Requirements:
Demonstrable working experience in an accounting/book-keeping role.
(AAT accreditations would be useful).
Proficiency with Xero accounting software and Intermediate Excel is
essential.
Strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team and manage time
effectively.
Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
Experience in a hospitality or club environment is desirable but not
essential.
A knowledge of golf would be an advantage but is not mandatory.
