Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 (DOE)
Hours: Monday - Friday 08:00-16:00 / 09:00-17:00hrs

Being a highly successful leading manufacturer of high-performance process chemicals, our client is looking to appoint a hands‑on, motivated Assistant Production Supervisor to join their expanding team. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Assistant Production Supervisor will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our production plant. You will also act as a stand‑in Production Manager when required, ensuring operational continuity and compliance with company policies and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor production equipment to ensure continuous and efficient manufacturing of chemical products.
* Identify and respond promptly to production and mechanical issues to minimise downtime.
* Assist with troubleshooting and rectifying mechanical issues and liaise with external contractors for maintenance, repair, and project work.
* Supervise contractor activities on site to ensure compliance with safety and quality requirements.
* Manage and issue Permits to Work (PTW) for maintenance, contractor activities, and other non-routine tasks.
* Monitor and maintain raw materials, finished goods, and consumable inventories.
* Work closely with the logistics and procurement teams to ensure material availability.
* Function as stand-in Production Supervisor during absences, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to process optimisation efforts.
Skills & Experience
* Must have solid experience working within a Chemical or Process Manufacturing environment.
* Previous experience working within a Team Leader or Supervisory position is required.
* Strong understanding of Permits to Work, safety systems, and contractor management.
* Basic mechanical aptitude and experience handling equipment breakdowns or maintenance coordination.
* Previous experience working on any project work would be advantageous.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Problem‑solving mindset with hands‑on technical ability.
