Manage and improve all Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) related practices throughout the UK site. Ensure all company processes conform with legal compliance, HSE policies, and ISO 14001 standards. Be the main point of contact for all HSE issues, improvement actions, and tasks, collaborating with other SEA sites.
Objectives, Roles and Responsibilities
* Establish and maintain robust HSE processes for the business.
* Drive cultural change by proactively improving the HSE regime through people.
* Manage compliance with ISO 14001 and other HSE standards.
* Maintain up-to-date HSE knowledge.
* Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and implement environmental best practices across the site.
* Develop and maintain HSE process documentation.
* Lead internal HSE audits and risk assessments.
* Manage SOPs to ensure safety compliance within teams.
* Maintain training compliance for staff, liaising with department heads.
* Lead HSE improvement actions from risk assessments and incidents.
* Implement the HSE plan through management to improve HSE culture.
* Manage COSHH systems and related safety measures.
* Oversee first aid, occupational health screening, and PPE controls.
* Be the point of contact for HSE communications.
* Identify and deliver HSE training requirements.
* Manage accident and near-miss reporting, investigations, and corrective actions.
* Organize and chair HSE meetings and safety committees.
* Generate and report HSE KPIs.
* Control emissions, effluent, and legislative site requirements.
* Work towards cost reductions in environmental and utility management.
* Collaborate with other site HSE managers.
* Work with management and staff to exemplify company values and professionalism.
* Lead emergency response planning.
* Lead energy and environmental awareness programs.
* Manage personal injury and civil claims.
* Coordinate with facilities and maintenance teams, and external stakeholders.
* Train and present safety topics across all site levels.
Contractor Management
* Manage pest control, fire safety, asbestos surveys, water risk assessments, and other compliance services.
* Oversee ESOS data submissions and packaging compliance reporting.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
* Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation.
* Good understanding of COSHH regulations.
* Proficiency in MS Office.
* NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent; working towards or qualified in NEBOSH Diploma.
* Experience in HSE management within manufacturing, preferably food or ingredients sectors.
* Proven leadership in establishing HSE agendas.
* Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
* Knowledge of transporting hazardous goods (IMDG, ADR, IATA).
