This is an exciting opportunity for a R&D System Engineer, working on product development in the GE Vernova Monitoring & Diagnostics (M&D) business, within Grid Automation (GA). The M&D product line is a class leading vendor of sensing devices and systems to Electrical Utilities and Industrial customers. The product line spans sensing of multiple asset types and has a broad portfolio of advanced technology, which aid customers to understand and optimize the operating condition of key assets such as power transformers and circuit breakers. Based on experience in product development and design and systems engineering, the successful candidate will define and develop technical solutions and strategies to refine existing products as well as developing new products and features. The role will be based in the system engineering team within M&D and focussed on the Kelman DGA and BMT products for substation Transformer monitoring. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and apply a clear understanding of existing products and their application. They will need to troubleshoot complex issues, and refine designs based on system behaviour and customer need, working through the product development lifecycle from requirements definition through product release and maintenance phases. This will include collaboration across a wide range of stakeholders in the M&D business, working with diverse international teams and engaging with commercial/customer facing stakeholders and teams. In product design, the Systems Engineer will work across hardware, firmware, and software domains to ensure seamless integration and high-performance system operation. This role includes technical leadership, cross-functional support and mentorship across the wider team on technical experience, product expertise and safety best practice. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities: - Architects, designs and/or programs/develops a small module or a large component, feature, set of feature, whole feature area or entire embedded software product. - Some areas of expertise may include, but is not limited to, networks, operating systems, cybersecurity, databases or applications. - May be responsible for the creation of an entire product. [Small teams will use this DAW to include all phases of design / Development cycle all the way to Release] - Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy / strategy. - May include support roles with specialised technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills. - Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. - Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area. - May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. - Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. - Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions / parameters. - A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. - For customer facing roles, develops excellent customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others. Required Qualifications: - This role requires basic experience in the Engineering / Technology & Embedded SW Development. - Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college certification with relevant experience.
