Job Title: Careers Adviser
Location: An Ofsted‑rated “Good” college in Northamptonshire
Employment Type: Full‑time, permanent (all year round)
Salary: £25,110 to £27,400 per annum

Role Overview
As a key member of the Student Services team, you will support students in identifying their strengths and mapping out meaningful next‑steps in their education, training and careers. You will deliver one‑to‑one career advice, deliver group sessions and masterclasses on careers planning, and support the college’s events such as careers fairs and mock interviews.
Responsibilities
* Conducting one‑to‑one interviews with students, helping them to reflect on their skills and interests, explore career and training options, and plan realistic progression pathways
* Delivering careers masterclasses and group workshops to learners across levels
* Providing strategic and practical advice at college‑wide careers fairs, liaising with employers, training providers and other stakeholders
* Conducting mock interviews, and other employability activities, to build student confidence and readiness for progression
* Maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of the labour market, apprenticeship opportunities, higher education routes and local training providers
* Working collaboratively with academic teams, support services and external partners to ensure seamless careers provision
Person Specification
Essential:
* A recognised Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) qualification or equivalent — for example Level 3 or Level 4 in Advice & Guidance. CTC Courses+(url removed)+2
* Experience of delivering careers advice and guidance to young people (e.g., in a college, school, training provider or similar setting)
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to build rapport quickly and engage learners from diverse backgrounds
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload of students
* Confident ICT skills (for research, records, workshops and presentations)
* Commitment to enabling all learners, including those from under‑represented groups, to achieve their full potential
Desirable:
* Level 6 qualification in Career Guidance & Development, or demonstrable willingness to work towards it. (url removed)
* Experience of using labour market information (LMI) to support student decision‑making
* Prior experience of working in a further education college or with 16–19 year‑olds
* Familiarity with quality frameworks for careers provision (e.g., the Career Development Institute Register or the Investors in Careers Standard)
