Job Purpose We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a N etworking Technician. Within Fourteen IP Communications Inc, the Networking Technicianwill work closely with the Support, Technical and Operations Teams to ensure that operational support requests are responded to and fulfilled in line with the companys contractual obligations, targets, and standards. Main Duties & Responsibilities The network Engineer is the escalation point for 1st and 2nd line staff. Taking ownership and responsibility for the timely investigation and resolution of Networking technical escalations Perform diagnostic work and resolution on networking faults of various nature ranging from Switching, Routing, wired/wireless. Voice/VOIP preferred but not essential. To be able to use standard networking troubleshooting methods (PCAPs, Syslogs), source guide/knowledge from manufacturer portals and share knowledge between teams. Escalate internally and to 3 rd parties when required. Attend calls with customers, network engineers or 3rd parties to review issues. Assist1st line and 2nd line techs on training and/or guidance when needed. Be required to configure and pre-build voice and data solutions prior to installation at customer premises. Ensuring process is followed and all documentation is correct and stored centrally. Assess situations, solve problems, and apply solutions within adequate time scales. Complete required training for the post and strive to meet development objectives. Contributing to the development, documentation, and delivery of in-house technical training courses as and when required. Establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues and those contacted during work. On Call, responding to emergency calls, providing out of hours support both on site and remote to customers. Provide Pre-Sales technical support to colleagues requiring assistance with equipment, hardware or service configurations and functionality. When required liaise directly with customers or prospective customers in relation to the same. Offer expertise within the team for the resolution of technical incidents and problems. When required provides training and professional development to members of the team to enhance their knowledge and skills.At times it may be necessary to provide the relevant training on the use and functionality of hardware, equipment, and services to customers and other relevant third parties. Work towards the Fourteen Way. Perform any other / or additional duties as dictated by the needs of the business. Sales/Pre-Sales engineer technical assistance with solution design, technology queries. Customer networking planning meetings Maintaining backups and documentation. Skills and Experience Strong customer service and communication skills Background in wired and wireless LAN Some telecoms experience is preferred. Experience with recognised manufacturers (examples: HP, Aruba, Cisco, Ruckus, Watchguard) Experience installing and supporting switches, firewalls, WLAN controllers, wireless access points. Excellent troubleshooting skills in networking. Experience with network monitoring, managing alerts, using common network troubleshooting tools. Basic understanding of SIP, VOIP and networking in general especially network switch and router configuration. Good organisational skills and a high attention to detail. Recognised industry training/accreditation in networking. Ability to intelligently consume and write technical literature.
