PM/PMO Specialist – Defence & Security – Consultant Analyst
Our Major Programme Services (MPS) team is looking for an exceptional PMO Specialist to support and lead complex projects and programmes across defence, major projects & infrastructure, transport, energy & utilities and the public sector.
Job Description
As a Project Manager/PMO Specialist, you will guide and execute complex projects and programmes, leveraging your expertise in planning & scheduling, risk, benefits, budgeting and reporting. You will create insightful reports that drive decision‑making, add extra value for clients and help deliver more successful outcomes.
Location & Working Arrangement
Hybrid working – office or client site a minimum of 2 days per week (up to 5 on a client site). Client locations include:
* Bristol
* Andover
* Portsmouth
* Cardiff
* Swindon
* Cheltenham
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with cross‑functional project teams to ensure successful delivery from initiation to closure.
* Develop and execute project plans, defining scope, goals, deliverables, resources and timelines, ensuring alignment with client objectives.
* Apply a variety of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) as appropriate, tailoring the approach to meet client needs.
* Identify and manage project risks, issues and dependencies, implementing mitigation strategies.
* Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication, expectation management and transparent status updates.
* Monitor project budgets and resource allocation, ensuring efficient utilisation of resources and adherence to financial targets.
* Implement effective change‑management strategies to facilitate smooth transitions and adoption of new solutions.
* Engage stakeholders to foster collaboration and communication among all participants.
* Mentor junior team members, supporting their professional growth.
Qualifications / About You
* British nationality required; experience working with secure clients a must.
* Track record of delivering complex projects on time and within scope in project management consulting/PMO or related roles.
* Strong expertise in applying and adapting various project management methodologies and tools.
* Proven ability to work with and motivate cross‑functional teams.
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree or certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, etc.) highly desirable.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
* Analytical mindset with a proven ability to identify and solve problems, manage risks and make informed decisions.
* Strong interpersonal skills enabling successful collaboration with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
