Overview
We're looking for an experienced PHP Web Developer to join our growing team. This is a hands-on, client-facing role where you'll build, improve and support WordPress websites and custom plugins for a range of clients.
You'll be comfortable owning work end-to-end: scoping requirements with clients, delivering robust solutions, and keeping sites secure, stable and maintainable.
What you'll do
* Develop and maintain WordPress websites, themes and custom plugins
* Support existing client sites: bug fixes, enhancements, performance improvements and updates
* Work directly with clients to gather requirements and recommend pragmatic solutions
* Build and maintain integrations with third-party systems and APIs
* Collaborate with the wider development team on code quality, standards, tooling and delivery practices
* Contribute to internal tools/products where appropriate
Essential skills you'll bring
* Strong commercial experience with PHP and WordPress (build + ongoing support)
* Proven experience developing and maintaining custom WordPress plugins
* Solid experience with relational databases. MySQL and MS SQL are essential
* Experience working with REST and XML APIs and integrations
* Strong working knowledge of Git (GitHub and/or Azure DevOps)
* Comfortable supporting production environments and troubleshooting effectively
* Confident communication skills for direct client interaction
Nice to have
* Experience with PHP frameworks such as Laravel
* CI/CD knowledge and experience with modern DevOps practices
* Experience across cloud and on-prem environments
* Interest in expanding into other technologies
