Job Duties:
The focus of this role is to support policy development across various areas of renewable electricity, principally to facilitate the delivery of: Offshore Renewables for Northern Ireland, and A Northern Ireland Renewable Electricity Scheme Although not an exhaustive list, the main areas of responsibilities and duties include:
7. Providing evidence-based policy recommendations, taking account of Northern Ireland’s needs and international trends.
8. Ensuring adherence to good practice standards in policy development.
9. Drafting of legislation and preparation of relevant consultations.
10. Preparation of impact assessments.
11. Engagement with Energy Stakeholders including the Utility Regulator, Consumer Council and energy companies.
12. Working collaboratively across NI Departments to establish workable policy and deliver on net zero targets.
13. Working with the DESNZ colleagues and other UK and RoI Government Departments as required.
14. Contract management support for any procurement or consultancy support as required.
15. Preparation of general briefing, including submission for the Minister and senior officials, preparing answers to Assembly questions, preparation for Assembly debates, and general Committee/Assembly/Executive business
Essential Criteria:
Must have 5 GCSEs including Maths & English and a Degree.
