The Role
Herefordshire Council is seeking a highly motivated and organised Senior Lawyer (Contracts, Procurement and Major Projects). You will join a small team of lawyers dealing with contracts, grants, procurement and commercial law. This role is suitable for a lawyer seeking a challenge, with aptitude for legal research and a willingness to contribute to the improvement of our Legal Services Team. Excellent client care and a high quality service to clients is required.
What Will You Be Doing?
Provide legal advice and assistance on a wide range of issues, varying in complexity, working closely with the Council’s departments to coordinate, problem‑solve and manage a large number of instructions.
About You
Qualified Barrister, Solicitor or Legal Executive and a fellow of CiLEX, with strong knowledge of contract and commercial law. Proven experience in subsidy control, company law, contract procurement law and drafting contracts, including JCT or NEC4 contracts. Knowledge of Data Protection legislation is an advantage. Must be able to work unsupervised, manage own caseload, and have excellent communication, analytical skills and the ability to deputise for more senior team members as required.
