Data Protection OfficerSalary: £55,000 to £60,000 paLocation: Andover, with travel to other UK Pure sites as required.Hours: 37.5 hours per weekWe're the Pure Group, and we're looking for a true Data Protection Officer, not a manager, but an independent, authoritative voice to shape, challenge, and elevate data protection across our Group. Working at Pure means joining a diverse, passionate, and growing team that truly makes a difference.The RoleThis is your opportunity to own the DPO function end-to-end.You'll set the agenda, define the roadmap, and ensure our data protection framework is robust, scalable, and fit for a high-growth, regulated environment.You will:Act as the statutory DPO, owning UK GDPR complianceProvide independent oversight, with the authority to challenge at all levelsDefine and deliver the data protection strategy and roadmapEnsure robust compliant policy, controls, and governance frameworks are in place that are fit for purpose for Pure, recognising its different service needs.Ensure alignment with FCA requirements (FPCOB, ICOBS, Consumer Duty)Be a strong advisor who will effectively manage Right to Access (subject access) both internally and externally – ensuring a robust commonsense attitude to requests and response.Lead customer breach and complaint response and engagement with the ICO, including incident and breach response.Be a strong adviser regarding ICO guidance on AI and data protection compliance, and be instrumental in advising re: AI and data protection Group related proposals and initiatives.Strong advisor relating to Privacy and Electronic Communications RegulationsEmbed a practical, commercially aware data protection culture, ensuring visibility to the Pure workforce, and that everyone knows who the DPO is, has easy access, and timely response.travel to our other sites – be visible, interact face to face with our team members.Support and work in partnership with Marketing, Pre Need Sales, and At Need services regarding marketing initiatives, mailouts, complaints and compliance.Work in partnership with the Customer experience team.Advise and influence at senior and Board levelDeliver coaching, and training to the Group and the Pure workforce ensuring the Pure Group teams are DP educated, aware of the risks and how we can work together to mitigate those risks.Ensure that our Pure environments are DP appropriate and compliant.Advise and as required implement additional risk mitigation across the Group servicesEnsure remain up to date regarding own knowledge and DP legislation changes, and related legislation.What Success Looks LikeStrong, effective policies, controls, and governance frameworksA respected and influential DPO functionData protection embedded into business operations, not added onA business that moves quickly, with the right DP guardrails in placeEveryone knows the DPO and has accessDP educated workforce. A resilient, trusted, credible, robust, commonsense advisor who can challenge, say no when needed, and be heard About YouYou'll haveProven track record as a DPO in a regulated environmentthe CIPP/E level qualificationStrong knowledge of UK GDPR frameworksYou will have good understanding of FCA frameworkStrong understanding of ICO AI and DP compliance and guidanceStrong understanding of Privacy and Electronic Communications RegulationsStrong understanding and capability in dealing with Right to Access in a commonsense approachProven track record building and enhancing data protection frameworksProven - confidence to challenge and influence senior stakeholdersAbility to prioritise and respond to deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving businessProven track record working with marketing, IT, and compliance functionsProven track record in delivering training to the workforce and ensuring that people are equipped with the DP knowledge and understanding required for Pure.
