Looking for a hands-on role where you can fully utilise your talents and mechanical expertise? This opportunity could be yours! We’re welcoming 4 Operator Maintainers to run our state of the art tissue converting machinery, maximising uptime, identifying faults, and rectifying interruptions/defects efficiently. With an operational background, you will be familiar with principles including 5S, TPM and Kaizen, and in turn, improving efficiency and sharing best practice with colleagues.
Responsibilities
As Operator Maintainer, your talents in mechanical, maintenance, and production will be fully utilised.
* Operate tissue/paper converting machines, perform quality checks and respond to product defects.
* Machine setup, optimisation, changeover, and troubleshooting; mentor colleagues in these areas.
* Contribute to continuous improvement and forward thinking; provide input on new machine design, installation, and commissioning, as well as product development.
* Support operator upskilling and cross-functional development.
* Support cost control, waste reduction, and maintain compliance with ISO9001 (QMS).
* Maintenance: implement cleaning, lubrication and preventative maintenance strategies; troubleshoot issues to root cause and implement long-term solutions.
* Manage maintenance tasks and improvement projects using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and other planning tools.
* Be mindful that the environment can have high temperatures and dust from tissue fibres; measures are in place to provide a safe space, with a commitment to zero harm.
Requirements
* Be mechanically-minded with relevant skills; able to read and interpret engineer drawings and take a problem-solving approach.
* Focused on continuous improvement and ongoing development in production, maintenance, and teamwork.
* Fully qualified in NVQ Level 3 or 4, or hold an HNC/HND in Mechanical Maintenance.
* Conducting equipment guarding and lifting checks; safety conscious and a critical thinker.
* Fully indentured (Mechanical and Electrical) apprenticeship with relevant role experience preferred.
* Bonus: proven experience implementing Best Practice Business Improvement tools such as TPM, Lean, 5S, Kaizen, etc.
