Diabetes Specialist Nurse RNA

If you are an enthusiastic and highly motivated Registered Nurse (level 1) with excellent communication and leadership skills, who has a proven interest in diabetes and diabetes care, this is the vacancy for you! An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Diabetes Specialist Nurse (DSN) to join the multidisciplinary Diabetes Team at Scarborough Hospital.
Responsibilities:
* Support the multidisciplinary diabetes team in the management of people with diabetes.
* Take a lead in the Ante‑natal diabetes service and young adult diabetes service.
* Promote patient empowerment for self‑efficacy in the management of long‑term conditions.
* Act as an effective role model, motivate and lead others.
* Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of current clinical and professional issues affecting people with diabetes.
* Incorporate evidence‑based practice into patient‑centred care.
* Conduct teaching for patients and healthcare professionals.
* Supervise team members and share good practice.
* Apply high quality evidence in patient‑centred care.
Qualifications:
* Registered Nurse – Level 1.
* Working towards a degree or equivalent.
Experience:
* Experience at Band 5 or equivalent within a relevant specialty.
* Experience with audit & standard setting.
* Experience in service development and/or change management.
Skills:
* Ability to organise and prioritise own and others’ workload.
Additional requirements:
* Valid Nursing and Midwifery Council PIN, subject to short‑listing checks.
* Disclosure and Barring Service Check pursuant to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
