Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the ophthalmology department within Hampshire Hospitals.
The ophthalmology department spans across 3 sites, and this role is based at the Basingstoke and North Hampshire site.
Each site has outpatient clinics, day case theatres, minor ops rooms, lasers, injection rooms, and pre-assessment areas.
The glaucoma service has a robust virtual screening program for follow-up patients.
This post is for an Ophthalmologist with a subspecialist interest in glaucoma. The successful candidate will lead the Glaucoma service at Basingstoke and develop it further to ensure excellent patient care.
The candidate will work with a proactive and enthusiastic department, which saw over 25,000 outpatient attendances in 2018/19 and nearly 5,000 inpatient and day case procedures. The department's consultants have strong general ophthalmology backgrounds with subspecialties in medical retina, glaucoma, uveitis, anterior segment, oculoplastic, pediatric ophthalmology, and strabismus.

About us
Our services include a dedicated Eye Day Case Unit at Basingstoke Hospital, an Ophthalmic Imaging Technician, community eye services for referral refinement, and Minor Eye Conditions (MECs). We also have a specialized theatre at Andover War Memorial Hospital and conduct surgeries in our day units across sites. In 2018/19, our department handled over 25,000 outpatient visits and nearly 5,000 surgeries. Our consultants have broad ophthalmology expertise with various subspecialties.
