Your role will be working to protect and improve the health and wildlife richness of our countryside, preserving all the benefits we get from it and helping our visitors to experience and get closer to conservation of our special outdoor places. There may also be opportunities to travel to other National Trust locations with some overnight stays to expand your learning and experience. Nostell is a very typical country estate with many of the features you would expect - woodlands, lakes, ponds, streams, and parkland. It has undergone a great deal of restoration since 2000 but there is still plenty to do. Led by the Conservation Management Plan you will work alongside the existing Ranger Team on many projects including woodland restoration and creation, habitat conservation and surveys, as well as the typical routine maintenance of the estate. You will also have opportunity to work across the wider portfolio at Marsden Moor, Hardcastle Crags and East Riddlesden Hall. Working alongside your mentor on tasks specific to your apprenticeship, you will develop the skills & knowledge relevant to this apprenticeship standard. (Countryside worker level 2) You’ll attend, and prepare for, regular review meetings with your training provider, and be accountable for your own progression.
