Projects Delivery Director
Role
The Projects Delivery Director will be part of the SLT work closely with the MD and Group Projects Director. The person will oversee the full project life cycle and is critically responsible for delivering all major projects - on time, to scope, on budget, safely, whilst achieving margin.
The Projects Delivery Director must effectively communicate the vision of the business, driving accountability, ownership, and measured performance. Translating the overarching business deliverables relating to major projects into clearly defined KPIs.
Responsibilities
* Provide Line Management to Senior & Project Managers across multiple UK sites
* Accountable for reporting project updates to the SLT, metrics including Safety, Cost, Progress, Scope, Quality, Opportunity, and Risk
* Ensures 100% compliance and governance with business policy and procedures
* Responsible for monitoring/ control of budgets and working with the Financial Controller to manage risk
* Accountable for ensuring that all scope is delivered in line with proposal, project budget, and schedule and is adequately resourced and controlled
* Responsible for major projects execution - Project handover through to sign-off & completion (cost, schedule, scope, quality, team) with lessons learned KPI’s and metrics
* Drive continuous improvement strategies
* Provide effective support for the Sales/Bids team
* Drive strategy for best practice across all areas of the business, providing leadership, mentoring and guidance to the management team
* Where required provide client facing support and relationship management relating to a project and its delivery issues
Essential
* Degree qualified or equivalent in an engineering or business discipline. Or significant equal experience in the sector and discipline.
* Significant experience (10+years) in a leadership role (of managing project engineering teams, ideally in multiple locations)
* Extensive experience of P&L management and managing budgets
* Critical and analytical thinker, sound decision maker, assertive, problem solver, ability to work at speed, organised
* Experience and understanding of heavy engineering and/or material handling products/processes
* Ability to travel to clients’ sites when necessary
