We are seeking an ECU Manager to lead the Economic Crime Unit (ECU), part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals and ensuring compliance with the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership for financial investigations within the ECU and ensure alignment with POCA obligations.
* Manage two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer; lead, motivate and develop the team and monitor performance and delivery.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC); influence senior stakeholders to support EA priorities.
* Contribute to organisation-wide improvements, share lessons learned, contribute to technical documentation, and advise other enforcement officers nationwide.
* Support the wider organisation in understanding POCA and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
* Lead and participate in enforcement activity with a national remit; work with dispersed teams across the country.
Experience/Skills Required
* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience leading a dispersed team; strong understanding of financial investigations and the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Experience in law enforcement settings and understanding of the National Intelligence Model; effective communication, feedback, performance management, and relationship-building with external stakeholders.
* Ability to work under pressure, prioritise a varied workload, and identify areas for improvement; lead changes to working practices and develop team and individual capability.
* Experience of working in the law enforcement sector and delivering outcomes through collaboration with partner agencies.
Desirable and Other Information
* This is a hybrid role with flexible working patterns; travel across the country for meetings and operational duties; incident response duties may be required and could attract additional payment.
